| Yahay, I looked up NANA's wiki and read that it's shoujo... but when I read the manga I just know that it's josei. Josei manga's target audience are mostly adult women, so the themes are a bit more serious, and romances are (for the most part) more realistic . It's very much like shoujo but the feel is really different. Seinen is the male equivalent of josei, and the themes are really diverse. Guess this is one of the reasons why I follow seinen titles, even if I really wasn't into a lot of graphic violence/sex. |

| Yeah you're right I also believe it's rather josei than normal shoujo. |

1. Battle Angel (both 1st era and LAST ORDER series)
-No other manga has legitimate martial arts references like this one. Sure it's shallow in terms of character developement, but I love the art-style and illustration of action.
2. JoJo series, particularly part 5 (golden wind)
-Favorite art-style, period. Generations of the manga create its own parallel universe, and "continues" with Steel Ball Run.
3. BLAME!/NOiSE
-Another favorite art style, but with more interesting character design. Another development in a sort of post-structural-future apocalypse.
4. Freesia
-Sanctioned revenge killings and insight in what seems to be disturbing human behavior. Out of the lot, I like how this one is constructed, story-wise. It has a way of showing the effects of ones personality; each character goes through a transformation of some sort, for better or worse.
5. PLUTO
-Author of 20th century boys and created with the image of Astro Boy's "The world's strongest robot" as a frame for what is a great sci-fi thriller, the comic is very good at making a simple concept into a question of what is really human. Urashima really has his work cut out for him :-) |

BAA is also one my favourites! But I haven't read Last Order yet...The art is really great!
Urusawa Naoki is one my favourite mangakas, so of course I'm reading Pluto (and 21st century boys!). But Monster is still my favourite manga by him!
I've read some volumes of Freesia and I also really liked it! There's also a live-action movie I have to see!
I never read Blame/Noise...maybe I should o.O
JoJo series??? Never heard of it -.- |

I tried reading Freesia but it didn't really have an impact on me. I'll try reading it again, maybe I can appreciate it this time around. >__>
JoJo's Bizarre Adventures. Good reviews. But 63 volumes @_@
Currently reading Monster. D:
Recent favorites:
*Nijigahara Holograph, What a Wonderful World, and Solanin by Asano Inio. This guy is awesome.
*Lovely Complex - shoujo manga that made me lol hard one moment and cry the next. |
